Fans Attending Jason Aldean’s Highway Desperado Tour Stop In Oklahoma City Friday Night (Oct. 13) Were In For A Treat As Toby Keith Joined Aldean On Stage.
A special moment took place at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center Friday night when Jason Aldean invited Toby Keith to join him on stage. Keith, an Oklahoma native, joined Jason Aldean on stage to sing his own 1993 hit “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.”
The performance came as a surprise to fans who welcomed Toby to the stage with thunderous applause and sang along with every word of his song.
“There’s only one guy you think of when you come to Oklahoma City,” Jason told the crowd before introducing Toby. “So make some noise for….Toby Keith!”
After the applause died down, Toby joked with the crowd, saying that he was on his “rehab tour.”
“If I ain’t at my bar, I’m down at Hollywood Corners or I’m on stage with Jason Aldean,” Keith said. “But the Almighty’s been riding shotgun and my a** is getting ready to go back to work.”
Keith then cued the band to kick off “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.” Toby looked and sounded as strong as ever as he sang the familiar lyrics.
Toby Keith’s Appearance At Jason Aldean’s Concert Marked His First Public Performance Since He Sang At The People’s Choice Country Awards On September 28.
Toby Keith attended the People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville last month where he was presented with the first-ever Country Icon Award. After Blake Shelton handed him the trophy, Toby picked up his guitar and performed an emotional rendition of his heart-wrenching ballad “Don’t Let The Old Man In.”
The moment was especially poignant as the 62-year-old legend has been fighting stomach cancer since the fall of 2021. His PCCA’s performance marked his first televised appearance since his diagnosis.
Toby told press ahead of the night’s show that he was feeling good, but that his cancer battle is “a little bit of a roller coaster.”
It’s a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and [down]. It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero, but I feel good today,” he told E! News.
