In Silver Spring, Maryland, Dan Yavetz was on his way to the neighborhood bank when he got sidetracked. But the brief trip was worthwhile since he unintentionally saved a life.
Yavetz told The Dodo, “I heard this little’meow’ coming from underneath the automobiles parked in front of the bank. “When I sat down, I spotted a kitten hiding and called to her. She unexpectedly ran outside and leaped into my arms.
The kitten was ready to be rescued and could tell that Yavetz was the right man to help.
“Instead of having to coax her out and work on her, she ran out right away, and I grabbed her, and she started purring and was really comfortable,” Yavetz said. “She was a beautiful-looking baby cat.”
Yavetz assumed that the friendly cat had escaped from the animal hospital in the shopping center, so he went to return her. “I went in and said, ‘Who’s missing a cat?’ and nobody claimed her,” Yavetz said.
When the kitten’s microchip wasn’t detected by the veterinary team’s scan, Yavetz carried the cat back to his auto repair and petrol station to continue the day’s work.
She’s definitely a road cat, said Yavetz. “She was sitting in the passenger seat on my shoulder as we drove home. Really cool, not at all squeamish, just full of love and energy.
