Bobby Knight, the legendary Indiana Hoosiers college basketball coach, has died at 83 years old.
Knight, one of the greatest head coaches in college basketball history, who was also known for having a very fiery personality, passed away at home.
His family announced the news on social media.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share that Coach Bob Knight passed away at his home in Bloomington surrounded by his family. We are grateful for all the thoughts and prayers, and appreciate the continued respect for our privacy as Coach requested a private family gathering, which is being honored. We will continue to celebrate his life and remember him, today and forever as a beloved Husband, Father, Coach, and Friend,” they announced.
Knight, 83, has dealt with an acute illness over the past year. He was hospitalized earlier this year.
“Per the contents of the message, a brief update spread to former players, the hall-of-fame coach had been admitted with an acute illness. The hope is Knight will be able to return home sometime soon,” the Indy Star reported.
