Beloved weatherman Al Roker has been absent from television since a serious health scare involving blood clots in his thigh that spread to his lungs and necessitated hospitalization.
In a heartfelt tweet, Roker shared his current road to recovery, his gratitude for the support he’s received, and his thanks for the fans’ well wishes.
In the past, Roker has been transparent about his health issues, which include surgery for hip and knee issues as well as prostate cancer. He has continued to be active in spite of them, finishing the Brooklyn Half Marathon.
Several “Today” show coworkers, including Hoda Kotb, Dylan Dryer, Craig Melvin, and Savannah Guthrie, publicly expressed their support for Roker while praising his upbeat attitude.
Roker made a comeback to the “Today” show two months after his hospital stay for the clots. In an interview, he and his spouse, Deborah Roberts, revealed the severity of his condition, which at one point even medical professionals were unsure about. They called his ordeal “frightening” and “the scariest journey.”
