Tiffany, a field agent for Michigan Humane, was on her way to answer a call when she spotted a small gray animal huddled near the freeway median.
As she got closer, she could see from her window a kitten huddled on an orange plastic bag in the snow and sludge.
Tiffany came to a complete stop in her car and snatched up the shivering cat, who curled up to her for warmth. Surprisingly, the cat had managed to stay largely unhurt during his time on the busy road.
“He was in good form, other from being chilly!” The Dodo spoke with Anna Chrisman, media manager at Michigan Humane. “And he was ecstatic to be going somewhere warm and receiving so many pets.” He started purring right after he was rescued and hasn’t stopped since!”
The cat’s personality began to emerge after he was safe at the Detroit shelter, particularly his fondness for snuggling. Lodge, the 4-month-old shorthaired cat, has wide, expressive eyes with which he has won over everyone at the shelter.
Lodge’s rescue may be seen in this video:
Little Lodge has been begging for attention since his rescue: “Lodge is a wonderful and gentle cat with a bit of a cheeky streak,” Chrisman added. “He likes to be held and play!” says the mother.
The shelter is presently accepting adoption applications, which will be reviewed as quickly as possible in order to find Lodge the best possible home. Because the kitten is a little feisty, it’s best if he goes to a family without little children.
Regardless of where Lodge ends up, his new family will undoubtedly receive lots of hugs and cuddles to keep them warm over the winter.
